About Lucuma

The Sacred Harvest of the Andes

Lucuma is a subtropical fruit native to the Andean regions of South America, particularly Peru, Ecuador, and Chile. It grows on evergreen trees and has a round or oval shape with green skin that turns slightly yellow when ripe. The flesh is bright yellow to orange and has a dry, starchy texture with a large seed in the center. Lucuma has been cultivated for thousands of years and was highly valued by ancient civilizations such as the Inca. The fruit grows best in mild, high-altitude climates and is typically harvested when mature but still firm, as it continues to soften after picking.
